Tools you will need include.

  • Lemond torque wrench that was in your accessory box that came with the bike.
  • 4mm + 5mm Hex wrench

  • First using the 4mm hex wrench loosen the four bolts on the face plate of the handlebar. Make sure to loosen them in a star pattern as shown in the picture.

  • Next using the 5mm hex wrench tighten the bolt on the top of the handlebar. As you tighten it turn the handlebars slightly to make sure it is moving smoothly and not too tight.

  • Next using your Lemond torque wrench, you got in the accessory box that came with your bike tighten the four bolts on the face plate of the handlebar evenly in the same star pattern you loosened them with until they are tight and showing 5nm on the torque wrench. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

  • The final step is to make sure your handlebar is straight, and headset is not too tight. Look down at the front of the handlebar and make sure the front tire is in the center of the headlight. Also lift the front wheel off the ground and turn the handlebars. The handlebars should move smoothly and free with no side to side or front to back play. If the headset is too tight or loose adjust as needed.
